Yearly Archives: 2003
lots of meetings today…
I really really dislike http proxies.
Went to the David Cross show on Friday. Entertaining. Favorite joke
was (paraprased):
DC: “I was watching TV and that annoying program was… you know, the
one where the guy pretends to talk to a dead guy? And tells people
they can communicate with the dead guy too…? whats it called?”
various folks in the audience: “Crossing Over…”?
DC: “No, thats not it…. what was it… oh yeah, church!”
Went and purchased (or repurchased) a big pile of cd’s saturday.
Amongst others, the first 4 metallica albums, phillip glass “low”,
shawn colvin, a chet atkins/suzy boggus cd, sepultura “chaos/ad”,
the first Mr. Bungle, the new Blue Man Group, etc…
Also finally got around to buying a volume pedal. I only put that
off for about 5 years.
Sunday I mostly slept in an attempt to hide from a sinus headache.
So, went to see The Matrix Reloaded yesterday morning (ie, 9am, but work
rented out a theatre, so what the heck)
It was ok. Not as good as the first. Too much philosophical babble.
It’s hard to compare since it’s not an origin story like the first, and this
version just mainly moved the story along. Lots of action scenes. All
pretty good.
The soundtrack and incidental music was bad. Especially the music
during the fight and action scenes.
The “burly brawl” was very impressive for it’s rendering of all the
Agent Smiths. Though for some reason, the 100 Agent Smiths, all
likely completely rendered, looked very realistic, but the one Neo
looked very artificial for much of the scene. The black robe didn’t
help, something with more texture would of made it look less “flat”
Probabaly head out to the David Cross show at Charlie Goodnights
tonight. Have the urge to go buy a bunch of cd’s as well.
Yay.
There is a new rpm book out, the Red Hat RPM Guide
British Prime Minister claims “21st Century Schizoid Man” his favorite
rock song.
Weird.
The Cognitive Style of
Powerpoint by Edward Tufte.
I generally think of Power Point as the most evil software ever written. With
a close second to all the knockoffs. And I like Tufte. So this could make
an interesting read.
