completely forgot about the Mike Watt show on Saturday… oh well.

went to Winston Salem for the Japan Air cd release party. Pretty
fun. Took Monday off and hung around.

Visited the Winston-Salem goodwill store while I was there. It’s
rather large. Picked up an electronic gadget with the intention
of circuit bending it.
It’s a little device designed to be used to take messages, and it
can store 4 ~20 second messages. I think it has interesting potential…

Looks like the 7.3 announcement is out. Cool.

To continue the habit of weird Black Sabbath related

more refactoring progress, trimmed 700 lines of python off of the completely
out of hand up2date.py. Of course, it’s mostly split into smaller files now, but
some of it has actually gotten a bit more OO. It makes my brain
hurt as I sit and attempt to figure out all the intermodule dependencies
in code whose main job it is is to solve dependencies. Visions of
module import graphs and tsorts make me feel all funny.

Wonder if the Mike Watt show at Kings tomorrow is going to sell out…
Wouldnt mind seeing that show.

got an idea bubbling in my head now… I want to hook up my atari
to some of the swirly music gear (some of the delays, the vortex, etc…)
and see what kind of madness I can brew up.

Attempted to be a bit social and headed out to Kings for Zombie Room/NPAV.

Walked in, talked to moonfl0wer, gretchen, and badger a bit. Had a bit of a discussion
about the “it’s a small world” feel of Raleigh at times (at times, it seems like just about
everyone knows someone I know). In this case, mainly talking about Joe L and Josh
from the “butt nekkid and flaming jesi” days.

Then of course, I walk over to watch NPAV, and realized the guy standing next to
me is joel, the new QA guy that works about 2 cubes away from me. He
is friends with James from NPAV. Point made.

Talked to joe for a while. Nice to seem him, since I don’t think I’d seen him
in 3 or 4 years. Pretty cool. Much geeking about music gear.

I should of probably stuck around and tried to be a bit more social, but
alas. Rumor seems to be that may be the last Zombie Room (and the first
I went to). See what happens when I show up? ;->

mildly productive day…

some more minor progress on the code refactoring. It kind of
helps that I basically already did this once a few months
ago but had to go back to the stable branch do to some
shifting schedules. Just got to compensate for 4 months
of bug fixing and features…

kicked off a couple more RHN errata update messages.
Looks like lots of folks use docbook and ppp.

Attempted to do something productive yesterday after work,
but ended up watching episode 2 of Frontier House

Fun weekend. Even went outside for a while.

Saturday was the All Astronauts/Japan Air/Trans Am
show. Showed up early and helped set up the projectors
and sound.

Then it was dinner. The ps211 guys had organized
about 20 people bringing food. The Japan Air guys
bought a ton of home made sushi that was quickly
devoured (I had more than my fair share, especially
the sesame crusted tuna…mmmmm)

First up was All Astronauts. All Astronauts is
Kemp and Kat (formerly of Malabaster) and
Fred (formerly of Squatweiler). Heavy mathy rock
stuff. Really cool. Apparently only their second show,
but excellent.

Next up was Japan Air. Excellent as always. (I’ve
known these guys since middle school, and we share
very similar musically tastes, so I’m not the least bit
impartial…). The Trans Am guys seemed to dig
it as well. Oh, and there cd’s arrived Friday, so
they had the new cd at the show. It’s called
“antarctica starts here”.

And of course, Trans Am. There played a long
set of almost entirely new songs (I think only
three old songs where “old” means “released”).
Almost the whole set was new stuff from the
new album and very cool. They also have
added a member, a second drummer/guitarist,
and it really seemed to flesh out the new stuff.

And to top it off, headed down to
Charlotte Sunday for Center City Fest. Mainly
went down to see Lake Trout, but couldn’t
resist hanging around for Jethro Tull.

Found a good bug for katzj yesterday… Lots of fun! He didn’t
write, but he got to fix it ;->

Looks like the first batch of the Japan Air cd’s arrived…

Looking forward to tomorrows show with Trans Am/Japan Air…

going though the up2date code making a list of
“things I hate” in preparation for an attempt at
a reorg/cleanup. Otherwise known as “accidently
reintroducing old bugs”. Oh well.

News site for weird music. Vaguely interesting reading.

Looks like the email notifications for todays errata
are going out smoothly. Now for the hundreds of
non standard “I will be out of the office for the next
5 hours” bounces. Some people should really
have there .vacation ( or equivalent) forcibly
taken from them.
