Friday went to see the Edward Tufte
seminar in Durham. Pretty cool. badger and jason0x21
amongst others were there. A lot of others actually, several hundred in fact.

Saturday went over to badgers and played a bit. We made an attempt at
actually composing something instead of improvising, since I haven’t
really written anything in years. Got at least one nice part down, and
ideas for the rest.

Then drove to winston-salem to see Dig Shovel Dig,
Cars Will Fly, Disband,
and All Astronauts for there
cd release party. Excellent show. Had never seen Disband before, and
they were great. Unfortunately, they are apparently moving. Dig Shovel
Dig was cool (a two piece with a drummer and a guy singing, playing
bass, and playing keyboards with his big toe. Really) and very
energetic. All Astronauts are playing this thursday at the Nightlight
with des ark and Cantwell, Gomez, and Jordan. You should go. If
for no other reason than to check out the drumming storm that is
Fred Mann of all Astronauts.

Sunday drove home to finish up the coatrack I started a few weeks
ago. Also watched a football game. Took Monday off work to
finish the coat rack. This time I decided to give a try at stick welding.
It’s definately more difficult that mig/wire welding, but I think the welds
turn out better. Did a little more work with the torch as well to cut out the
shapes for the “hooks” at the top. Since the legs and the top are made
out of 1/4 inch thick steel and stick welded, it should be pretty stable ;->

Today, a little bit of progress on the latest insane project.

went to the henry rollins “talk” at the lincoln theatre
last night. Entertaining.

Most entertaining part for me was his speel about
going to Nashville to work on an album. With William
Shatner. And Adrian Belew.

Apparently, Henry Rollins is a huge King Crimson fan.
The term he apparently used to describe his appreciation
of King Crimson and Adrian Belew to William Shatner
was “I’m a trekkie for King Crimson”. Weird. Earlier
in the show, he also made a remark about having to
buy an extra suitcase to bring back all the King Crimson
bootlegs he bought in Tokyo as well.

I’ve seen him vaguely mention King Crimson occasionally in
a interview or too, and a quick mention in the liner notes
to one of the later Black Flag albums (Family Man? maybe).

Rollins and Adrian Belew. That should be interesting.

After reading various spam statistics from folks,
decided to take a look at mine. Since I dont
really record any info, I only have the data
since 12/20 or so. For my work account
that is.

Since 12/20/2003, I’ve received approximately
256 emails in my inbox that weren’t spam.

In my spam folder, in the same time, I’ve
received 9444 spams. That doesn’t include
the roughly 50 a day that makes it past
the spam filter. So roughly 380 spams
a day.

A rough estimate puts me at receiving
about 1850 emails a day (lots of mailing
lists…). So I guess 380 out of 1850 is
relatively good.

Shrug.
