More red hat high

Almost finished with Red Hat High week. Check out this Red Hat Magazine article for a better summary than I can provide.

Pretty cool experience. I learned a lot, and I think the students did as well. I hope I can put up some of the tracks they put together this week.

Trying to teach classes of any sort always wears me out. And this week was no exception. I think I need about 40 hours of sleep now.

Just spent the morning teaching rising 9th graders how to do basic audio editing and drum machine programming using open source cools on linux machines. They took to it instantly. I need to revise my original curriculum, because I think they are going to blow though it in two days, instead of the week I planned.

And on that note, I could use a couple of instruments and other tools to help. In particular, I could use something like a POD, and an electric bass would be handy too. I have plenty of guitars, and midi controller keyboards.

I also need to find some way to rig up some sort of isolation booth. We had one setup last year, but don’t have a good spot for one this year.

What did I do this weekend?

I buffed my sprocket.

And a drum brake cover, and a wheel hub.

Sadly, I think my buffing skills could use some practice.

Perhaps that doesn’t sound quite right.

Hanging out at the shop today, there was a film truck next door. I wandered over to ask what they were filming, and they were in town doing driving scenes for Nights In Rodanthe. So maybe that means Richard Gere or Diane Lane or around town. Seemed like a small setup though, so I assume it was just second unit miscellaneous stuff.
