Spent the day being a good consumer. Though almost everything
I bought was used (thrift store, readers corner, couple used cd’s
at schoolkids…) so maybe I was being a good “pirate”. Pretty
good haul overall.

Looks like Japan Air is going to be playing with Shadow Of A Great Name
at Kings Thursday, August 29. That should be cool, then they are off to play a
show with Lake Trout at ziggys the next night. So be warned I am going to
start babbling about how everyone needs to go to that show. All the cool
kids are doing it.

Got home late, but played for an hour or so anyway. The zoom BFX-708
into a peavey ddl3 delay. Was reminded that the zoom really really
sucks if you want to use it for anything remotely normal. It’s very
digital and glitchy and just generally weird. The good thing is
it makes tons of weird noises. The Peavey delay is about
as good of a 80’s vintage digital delay as can be found.
Results varied greatly, but all would probably annoy
most people ;->

Chuckle.
strawhedge burns down
. Love the animated gif and the useful
infographic.

Got home early enough last night to actually to play for an hour or
so. snarling dog ringmod/wah -> boss ph3 phaser -> lexicon vortex
just for kicks. Results ranged from bubbling underwater giant robot
death rattles to blippy sci-fi computer meltdowns.

Spent most of today doing the API tango with jbj. ie “hey, can
you add foo() to the api”…”How about foobar() instead”…
“Sure if foobar() does what I wanted foo() to do…” etc.
All in all, it makes my brain hurt.

dang, looks like Desoto records
is shutting down.

And not just that, but Burning Airlines is calling it quits as well.

I’n a huge Jawbox fan, so kind of sad to see them go.

Finally got around to ripping the Japan Air cd to ogg/mp3. Not really
much of a mp3/ogg person myself, so did it just so I can upload stuff
to mp3.com.

If anyone wants to hear them, that can probabaly be arranged.

Discovered one of the new features in up2date is not
the trivial thing to back port I thought it would be. Joy,
seems to work now though.

When attempting to upload one of the more electronica
tracks to mp3.com, I got stumped on the “choose a genre”
section. Realized once again that I know nothing about
electronica.

Spent the weekend in Winston-Salem. Went to see the
Japan Air/Tommy Gun/Frog
and Toad Together show at The Garage

Japan Air was excellent as usual, with a full keyboards included show
this time. Tommy gun was good as well, playing a handful of
new songs. Frog and toad were pretty good as well (though
they played a _long_ time). Some of the songs vaguely
reminded me of a less jazzy Clockhammer.

Borrowed the “Shadow of a Great Name” cd from Johnray.
Pretty cool cd. Working on trying to either get them a show
in Winston-Salem with Japan Air, or vice versa here in
Raleigh.

a little of the Ludwig Von…

Been listening to 9beetstretch A time stretched version
of Beethoven’s 9th (stretched out to 24 hours). Kind of nifty, though it does remind me alot
of fripps soundscapes or some of eno’s stuff that way.

Kind of makes me wonder what a fripp piece time stretched down to say, 3 minutes,
would sound like.
