It appears someone has patented the idea of using flechette rounds to clear mine fields.

Now thats uncoventional thinking. Namely, the Hague Convention, and the Geneva Convetions, which according to some, outlaw the use of flechettes. Though, it could be argue that that only applies when used against human targets.
