Phasmatodea practice at badgers place
today.

Took over the two new toys, a Moog Moogerfooger Low Pass Filter and a Prohecysound
Infinitphase. Been coveting badgers Low Pass Filter for about a year, and saw one cheap
on ebay so picked it up. Through, hopefully it wont rip the universe apart as it’s the first
piece of gear in my large gear collection or badgers large gearcollection that we have in
common[1].

I managed to forget the power supply to the Infinitphase (and it’s a 16v ac power supply…
wacky Australians…), so it didn’t get used. Did make good use of the Low Pass though.
Even though I managed to hook it up incorrectly and was getting a very weird hard
to predict distortion for the first piece. Kind of had me disoriented a bit, but made
do anyway. Third piece started a nice pretty cm7-dm7 chord progression that
eventually ended with both of us playing low melodic bits underneath.

Also, looks like Phasmatodea is playing the 3rd 919noise
night this Thursay, the 17th. So come out and watch me and badger make
weird noises.

All things must end. Ashes to Ashes, Dust to dust.
Often a time of sadness and grief, and loss. Losses
of this nature can show the true human spirit of
those that are closest as they mourn the passing.

But in this case, the time had come. The end was
long overdue by most accounts. The evil perpetuated
on the masses can not be forgotten, even in this
time when the desire to forgive is so strong. It
is so easy to forget the horrors and pain induced
to people both here, and around the world. Supporter
or not, it was impossible to escape the wraith and
dismay brought upon this world.

Do not forgive for the simple reason of a passing.
That is the cowards way out, and the only way to
prevent this in the future is to make it clear
to the youth the dangerous influence and control
that can be wrought when fame is given unto those
that did not deserve it. Once evil, always evil.
Never forget this.

I’m talking about Creed
breaking up of course. What did you think I was talking about?

Went over to the Nightlight last
night. Saw Raoul Bjorkenheim and Lukas Ligeti, and Jazzkammer.

Bjorkenheim and Ligeti are guitar/drums duet. Kind of
an interesting slightly avant fusion. Aka, the guitar
work was fusiony at times, but often on processed and
prepared guitars. Drum work was similar, sometimes being
fairly straight forward but well executed standard
rock and jazz drumming, and at times, more of an
experimental take, with odd percussion bits thrown in.
The guitarist seem to sport some Belew, Holdsworth, and
Mclaughlin influences at times, in addition to the weirder
noisy improv stuff. Pretty cool.

Jazzkammer were both less traditional (as compared to
mainstream music) and more traditional (as compared to
electronic based free improv). Ie, three guys sitting
at a table making weird noises.

my legs hurt

It’s Thursday afternoon, and my legs are still quite sore from
playing indoor soccer Tuesday night.

Played with the Red Hat league team. Luckily it’s mostly
new soccer players, since I fit squarely in that bracket. I
think the last time I played soccer was in gym class in
middle school.

I haven’t a clue what the rules are. Or any concept of
strategy. But I had fun. But my legs still hurt.

Visited my sister in Virginia over the weekend. Did not do much
of anything aside from eating and playing with my nephew.

Spent a couple hours monday tooling around on a street bike
in the back roads of northern virginia. Having never actually
ridden a street back before, that was pretty fun. I rode
my dad’s bike (a Suzuki Intruder 800 for the curious bike geeks…) while my dad borrowed a
friends Harley SomethingOrAnotherSter (they had ridden in the
Rolling Thunder even sunday).

Riding a street bike isn’t that much different than riding
a dirt bike. Though a few things took getting used to. Engine
braking is _much_ more effective on a 800cc 4 stroke than
on a 125 or 250cc two stroke. As in, downshifting is enough
to chirp the tires. I could be wrong, but it seems like
a 250cc two stroke is quicker than at least that bike. Or maybe
it just feels that way because of the interesting power curve
on a two stroke. A quick search online looks like they are about
the same power ranged (~40hp), so the dirt bikes probably are
quicker.
