Hey Adrian,

I know the conundrum, what the hell do people want?

Some things I bought for people that seem thoughtful, but are actually random:
- Digital picture frame, good all around gift, neary everyone has a digital camera these days.
- Wine, there is a custom winery in the town I live in. Each yeah in October I order a case. I can then give out bottles of custom made wine to anyone who suprises me with a gift, usually along with the words: "This custom, I had it made just for you." Probably not helpful this year, but perhaps next.
- DVD series, like anyting from Ken Burns. This are great shows that most people don't think of buying themselves. And he's done documentaries on everything from WWII to Jazz.
- For colleages, if you're into getting them anything, little stuff for the office. Like a one cup coffee maker with filters.

Hope that helps, at least a little.
